The Sticky Wicket

This is a story of a girl. A girl who had met the boy, fell in love, was asked, accepted, and made the plans - only to be told 4 years later that it had been a good ride. This is the story of a heartbreak. And the possible rebuilding of Rome from the ashes.

The Name Game

Boy = Chase Chambers (meaning: Chase=Hunter, Chambers=DCS old family name)
Girl = Bailey Clarke (meaning: Bailey=able, Clarke=scholar, DCS old family name)

Isn't giving a name so powerful? This will be worn for a lifetime. It is like a fairy godmother bringing gifts. What better gifts can I bestow than that of hunting (because we should all be on the hunt for knowledge and love and adventure and life) and ability and scholarliness (they go hand in hand, ability to do, be, live the knowledge rather than just know it.)

That is my thought.

Sidebar: my real name meaning? Why, "Confuser of men," "One who inflames men with love," and "prophet of doom." Depending on the website/book. How 'bout those for real humdingers?

OK, this is serious now. Please for the love of all that is holy DO NOT name the tyke 'Chase'. There's already too many of them. They've got a bank too. Stick with proper nouns. Me, I always start with the suggestion of looking back to the Roman Emperors for names. At least then they're not often repeated.

Cheers & Good Luck, 'VJ'.

Octavius might be hard for number one.

Where are you that there are a lot of Chases? I have never met one. I always thought: I'll chase him, then the girls will chase him. Makes sense.

I like "Cotton" too, but that is the southern coming out in me.

I'd go for the southern names, they're always more amusing and charming. But any neighborhood with real estate over 200K is bound to have Lots of dads named Chase, and kids too. There's ways of looking up the most popular American baby names for each year/decade. I'm betting that Chase even makes that. It's NOT that uncommon. But hey, it's your kid. I like the furniture, you've got fine taste. Now what on earth DCS is waiting on, I'll never know. But let's hope he does the right thing. Cheers & Good Luck, 'VJ'
